Shah Rukh Khan spilled the beans on his upcoming film King
Sunday was a special day for Shah Rukh Khan fans as he attended an event at the Global Village in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Known for keeping his public appearances to a minimum, he entertained the audience, as he interacted with them. The actor even danced on his famous songs, leaving the fans ecstatic. During the same event, he also opened up about his upcoming project King and shared an interesting update about it.
Talking about it, he revealed that Pathaan director Siddharth Anand has taken the reins of the film. Khan shared that he will shoot for the film in “a couple of months,” when he returns to Mumbai from Abu Dhabi. He also shared that Anand is very strict about SRK not letting anyone know what his role is in the film, Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he added, “My director Siddharth Anand is very strict. He had made Pathaan. So, he is very strict that I should not tell anyone what I am doing in the film. So, I can’t tell you, but I can assure that it will entertain you all.”
The 59-year-old actor also shed light on the film’s title being King and joked how he has used many titles until now. Khan says, “I have used so many titles like Devdas, Mohabbatein, Prem, Pyaar, Ishq, so we ran out of titles. So, how to say Shah Rukh Khan in and as Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan in and as Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan in and as Jawan. Now, Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan King. It is a little bit of show off, but we are in Dubai so people will understand that ‘A King Is A King’.”
Shah Rukh goes on to express how he and the whole team will work very hard alongside Siddharth Anand to make a great film for everyone. Something that will be enjoyed by everybody and will make them happy.
If reports are to be believed, King was earlier supposed to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh. SRK had even confirmed the same during an interaction at the Locarno Film Festival. He had revealed that the film is an action drama, a kind of project he had been wanting to do for “seven, eight years.” He added, “We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice, because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film.”
With Siddharth taking over the film, it will be interesting to see how it turns out. The film also reportedly stars SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan, Mujya fame Abhay Verma in pivotal roles. It was also reported that Abhishek Bachchan will be essaying an antagonistic role. It is to be noted that the makers of the film are yet to officially announce anything.
