Meghan Markle Rewears a Coat with a Special Meaning — 6 Years Later! — for Hockey Game with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle brought a very special coat on her trip to Canada with Prince Harry.

After they attended the opening ceremony for the 2025 Invictus Games on Feb. 8, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex promoted the event at the Vancouver Canucks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game. Meghan, 43, wore a black and burgundy coat, identified by Town & Country’s Emily Baruck as Givenchy (the same brand that Meghan turned to for her wedding dress!).

There’s a reason the ensemble looks familiar. Meghan previously wore the coat over six years ago when she and Prince Hary touched down in Australia for their royal tour that also took them to New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji. On Oct. 14, 2018, the pair were photographed holding hands as they made their way to a car after they touched down in Sydney.

The next day, the palace revealed that Meghan was pregnant with their first child. Their son, Prince Archie, was born on May 6, 2019.

Meghan wore several stylish ensembles for the first outings of the Invictus Games, the adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans that Harry, 40, founded in 2014.

At the opening ceremony, she went with an ivory trench coat by Sentaler, a brand she’s worn on several milestone events before, including her first Christmas with the British royal family in 2017.

Bojana Sentaler, founder and designer of the luxury outerwear brand, told PEOPLE at the time, “Meghan has been a fan of Sentaler for a couple of years now, so I was aware that she owned our coats. But it wasn’t until that day at 6 a.m. that I woke up to a tweet of Meghan Markle wearing my coat. It was the best Christmas present that I could have ever received!”

The designer added, “I think that she is really the epitome of what Sentaler stands for — classy silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and elegant pieces that are chic and fashionable.”

On Feb. 7, Meghan introduced Prince Harry during an Invictus Games welcome reception.

“I was not planning on speaking tonight,” Meghan, wearing the A.L.C. “Willow” sleeveless midi dress in chocolate, said. “We just arrived a couple of hours ago, and I touched Canadian soil, and I went, ‘Oh, feels like home.’

“We are so excited and we also recognize most of you are probably so exhausted from how much travel you’ve done, how much adrenaline you have pumping, how excited you are for what is going to be one of the most outstanding, memorable, unforgettable and connected weeks probably for you and for your families,” she continued.

Meghan then shared a personal story.

“With families…the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us,” she said. “And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will say, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he’s like, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.'”

“It means so much to him,” Meghan shared. “You are his family, just as we are his family. And I hope you recognize how much of his heart he has poured into every single beat that has gotten all of you to this week that is going to be spectacular. I need you to know that, I need you to know how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him. It is my entire pleasure and complete honor to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California: Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex.”
