Aguilera first debuted the vintage Versace gown at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards
Keke Palmer just channeled Y2K style icon Christina Aguilera at an Oscars afterparty — and looked good doing it!
The 2025 Academy Awards were brimming with referential looks, and Palmer’s post-Oscars look was no exception. The One of Them Days star, 31, arrived at Vanity Fair’s annual afterparty on Sunday, March 2 in a vintage Versace gown previously worn by the “Genie In a Bottle” crooner decades earlier.
The skin-baring white gown, which showed off the actress’s abs — and sprawling floral rib tattoo — is a Demi-Couture piece from the fashion house’s Spring 2004 collection, according to vintage and couture retailer OpulentAddict, who sourced it for Palmer’s stylist Molly Dickson.
Featuring a bandeau top, sparkling mesh overlay, and dreamy, handkerchief hem skirt with a knee-high slit, the dress immediately cemented Palmer as one of the best-dressed celebrities at the Oscar afterparties.
The Scream Queens alum let the vintage beauty speak for itself, teaming it with a pair of strappy silver heels, a slicked-back bun and a bright, springy makeup look complete with a glossy, mauve lip. She also tied together its glittering overlay — courtesy of Swarovski crystal embellishments, per OpulentAddict — with a pair of sparkling drop earrings.
And though the star made the standout look her own, Aguilera, 44, rocked it first — which Dickson (who also styled Sydney Sweeney and Lauren Sánchez at the Oscars afterparty) acknowledged on her Instagram, sharing the singer’s look along with Palmer’s.
Aguilera donned the Versace look first at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards. At the time, the singer and 2000s style icon hit the ceremony’s red (well plaid, technically) carpet in the sparkling gown, which she styled with a retro-inspired glam.
The “Lady Marmalade” singer paired the ab-revealing dress with a shimmery eye look, dark blush and a bright red lip, along with ultra-thin, arched brows. Her hair, which was jet black at the time, was styled in a pinned-back, wavy updo. (Betty Boop, anyone?)
Like Palmer, the star also went for an additional pop of sparkle with her jewelry, adding a pair of drop earrings to the red carpet look.
The gown was also worn by Donatella Versace herself for a 2003 Harper’s Baazar editorial, per OpulentAddict.
Palmer showcased her Oscars afterparty look from several angles in an Instagram post following the star-studded bash.
“Spend time with people that give you the life Sergio gives me,” she wrote in the caption, referring to designer Sergio Hudson, with whom she posed at the afterparty step and repeat.
“Tonight will be a night, OKAY!” she continued, adding a “special thank you” to Versace “for making sure my dress fit perfectly.”
