Sarah Kim is sparking a viral conversation after a recent revelation about her financial situation.

The social media influencer, who is expecting her first child with husband Andrew Min, is known for posting content about her job, cooking and ‘get ready with me’ videos on TikTok where she boasts over 2.8 million followers. However, she recently went viral for a different reason as she shared that she’s the main provider for her family.

Kim opened up about her financial situation in a recent episode of her podcast At Home with Hoemgirl titled “Marriage Is HARD,” during which her husband shared that for years he didn’t have a job and Kim had to support him.

They prefaced their financial conversation by noting that they believe in the financial philosophy that when they united in marriage, their finances also united.

“Anything I bring in is all yours and everything you bring in is all mine,” Kim explained. “That’s just what we agreed on from the start and we still agree on it.”

Kim added that listeners might not agree with their approach to their finances but that was “totally cool too,” with Min chiming in that there are “definitely not right or wrong” ways to approach money in a marriage.

At one point, Min pointed out that right before they tied the knot, Kim quit her job and was unemployed for roughly the first six to eight months of their marriage. “For me, I was like, ‘That’s fine.’ Not that I was making a ton of money or anything like that,” he clarified. “But I’m like, ‘Hey, if it’s gonna be hard, it’ll be hard together.’”

Opening up about his own work issues, Min recalled how the situation was then “flipped around” as two years ago things “turned really sour” at his previous workplace and he left.

“We decided that I’m gonna take some time away from that world, just to kinda reevaluate and stuff … it ended up being longer than I wanted to because I couldn’t find a good opportunity, the right situation to work in again afterward,” he said, noting that he wasn’t “bringing in money for basically two full years” aside from a few part-time gigs.

He added that while Kim was “carrying” them financially during that time, “not for a second ever” did she make Min feel like a “burden” or that he wasn’t pulling his weight.

However, Kim clarified that that period of their life “definitely wasn’t pretty” as she had to come face-to-face with the fact that she still has needs.

“Did I think about what if I married rich during those hard times? Probably, yeah. If I just married a really rich dude this wouldn’t be happening,” she confessed.

As Kim discussed overseeing their finances and planning for the future as they’re expecting their first child, she noted that she eventually turned to a financial advisor. At one point in the conversation, Min revealed that he initially declined to participate in the financial meeting as he noted, “I’m not making any money,” and doesn’t have a “place” to say anything about their finances.

Min added that they also came from different backgrounds, noting that his bar for being “financially secure” was very different from Kim’s. “My family was not well off,” he explained, noting that he then picked a career that didn’t provide much money either. “I was used to just being poor, just barely making it, just getting by.”

Though Kim clarified that her family didn’t come from a ton of money, they never had to worry about it either. She noted that her father provided for their family and sent her and her brother to a private university. She added that she was always focused on saving money growing up, and began working part-time jobs as early as high school.

“Say my bar is up here, Andrew’s bar is down here,” Kim said, pointing out the differences in their financial mindset. “That gap of feeling secure financially was what caused a lot of tension [in our marriage].”

Once the podcast clip went live, her followers began looking back at her older videos and leaving comments about the situation. Several TikTok users have even made explainer videos, dissecting various aspects of their relationship.

While many are expressing anger at the situation, a few commenters pointed out that the last thing Kim needs is hate comments about her husband as she’s expecting her first child.

“You guys need to remember she’s pregnant. It’s sad but she doesn’t need all this stress while being pregnant. She will figure out her life or he will shape up but don’t stress her. This isn’t the time,” one commenter said.

“Yall are crazy in these comments, it’s absurd. She’s pregnant, give her some space. Y’all are judging the man she chose and ultimately judging her. That hurts her I’m sure,” another commenter echoed.

Kim and Min have been together for over six and a half years. They tied the knot in June 2021 and recently announced they were expecting a baby in January 2025.
