Patrick and Brittany Mahomes snagged the hottest ticket in Dallas!

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife sat courtside on Wednesday, April 9 to watch Luka Dončić return to face his former team when the Mavericks took on the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the game, which the Lakers won, 112-97, Dončić sought out the NFL star for a few quick words and a hug before he headed to the locker room.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP and the Kansas City Current co-owner frequently turn up at Mavs games in the NFL offseason. The couple met while in high school at Whitehouse High School, located about two hours southeast of Dallas.

Patrick and Brittany — who share daughters Sterling Skye, 4, and Golden Raye, 3 months, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 2 — were among the sold-out crowd who took in the unusual scene in which conflicted Mavs fans enthusiastically welcomed back Dončić and also cheered on the home team.

The perennial All-Star and generational talent was traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie and a future first-round pick on February 1 in a blockbuster (and shocking) move that no one (except for Mavs and Lakers management) saw coming.

Before the game, the Mavericks organization placed “Hvala za vse” (“Thank you for everything” in Slovenian) shirts in every seat, and before Dončić was introduced, the team showed a poignant video full of “Luka Magic” highlights from his six-and-a-half years on the team.

Dončić’s eyes filled with tears as he took in the roar from the crowd and watched the video, while he occasionally covered his face with a towel.

During the game, Mavs fans filled the American Airlines Center with a resounding “Fire Nico” chant, calling for Mavs ownership to fire general manager Nico Harrison, who engineered the trade.

In a courtside interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters after the game, the star said he wasn’t sure how he was able to get through the emotional game — and play well.

Dončić finished with 45 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

“I love these fans, I love this city,” Dončić said. “But it’s time to move on.”
