Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter subtly revealed on a recent Twitch stream that her “30-second” cameo in the Jason Momoa-led ‘Minecraft’ film was cut
Rachell Hofstetter is speaking out.
The popular Twitch personality, who goes by “Valkyrae” online, subtly hinted in a recent stream on April 6 that her cameo was cut from A Minecraft Movie, starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, without giving an explicit reason why.
“As much as you guys saw the other creators in it would have been the equal amount you saw me in it, which is like 30 seconds, so it’s like okay,” she said on the stream in regard to the newly-released movie based on the video game of the same name.
“I would much rather not have that 30 seconds than be sued, so it’s all good,” she continued. “It really was a wonderful 10 days in New Zealand for that 30 seconds and I’m really glad I got to visit New Zealand… I feel like things could’ve been so much worse.”
“That’s all I’m gonna say about it,” she said.
Coincidentally, six months prior to sharing the news of her cameo cut on the livestream, Hofstetter made public claims against Momoa and his alleged treatment of crew members on set. However, she didn’t reference her prior allegations about the actor in her recent stream.
The Twitch star didn’t place blame, either. “It’s not even Minecraft. It’s not even their fault. Don’t worry,” she said before going on to praise the movie, saying she “actually thought it was good.”
Hofstetter’s prior claims against Momoa were made on a podcast appearance with YouTuber JasonTheWeen in September 2024 in response to his question about “worst celebrity or streamer experience.”
The podcast host prefaced it by saying she “didn’t have to say the name” of the person. “I will say the name,” she said, adding, “I would have to say Jason Momoa.”
Hofstetter alleged, “I just saw him, like, mistreat some of the crew, and it was pretty disappointing. I do — it was after a very intense scene and a very emotional scene, so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know, but I was just kind of surprised by how he treated some of the crew.”
The content creator then went on to explain her experience on set with the actor.
“He was just really mad at them that they weren’t doing something right,” Hofstetter said of Momoa. “It was like setting up the shot and stuff. It was just angry. Like really mad and like yelling.”
She added, “I was like ‘Man this is like not a good work environment, Iike, I would not be happy working under these conditions.’ “
Reps for Hofstetter and Momoa didn’t reply to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the matter, nor did Warner Bros. Pictures.
A Minecraft Movie follows “four misfits” — played by Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and up-and-coming actor Sebastian Eugene Hansen — who are pulled into the Overworld, a “bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.”
Momoa plays Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison in the gaming film. To return home, he and the misfits must master their new world where “creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival” against evil things like Piglins and Zombies.
A Minecraft Movie, meanwhile, has sparked “disruptive behavior” in cinemas, with some viewers following a social media trend where they vocally react to one particular scene.
Clips posted on TikTok and other platforms show audiences around the world reciting, screaming and throwing popcorn when Black’s character says the phrase “chicken jockey.” One viral video appeared to show police escorting a group of children out of a theater.
A Minecraft Movie was released on Friday, April 4, 2025.
