Hargitay and Christopher starred alongside each other for 12 years on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’
Benson and Stabler are taking on a Knicks game!
On Friday, April 11, Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson) and Christopher Meloni (Elliot Stabler) were photographed sitting courtside for the New York Knicks’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite the home team’s near loss, 108-102, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit stars appeared to be in good spirits.
“DUN DUN,” The Knicks captioned a snap shared on X of the SVU duo, a nod to the iconic sound tied to all the Law & Order franchises.
Hargitay wore a gray long-sleeve top and a collection of statement necklaces for the outing. Meanwhile, Meloni was equally casual in a black jacket and t-shirt paired with blue jeans as they held hands in the courtside photo.
Tracy Morgan, Matthew Modine, Susie Essman, Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan were also in attendance at the game. Though the Knicks came away with a loss on Friday, the team still secured a first-round game with the Detroit Pistons.
Hargitay and Meloni’s friendship goes way back — starting in 1999, when they both landed their roles as Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, respectively, on SVU.
The pair previously told PEOPLE that for their initial screen test, Meloni was telling Hargitay a story, and they were so engrossed they actually asked the executives to give them “one second” to finish it before they picked up on the audition.
Though Meloni left the show in 2011 due to problems with his contract negotiations, he and Hargitay reunited on episode 2 of Law & Order: Organized Crime — the Stabler-focused spinoff.
All these years later, Hargitay and Meloni’s friendship remains strong. Hargitay serves as godmother for Meloni’s daughter, Sophia, who was born in 2001.
