Beyond conventional performances, the “Chi Dep Concert” (Sisters Who Make Waves concert) on April 12th at The Global City was not only a lavish musical feast but also a multisensory sanctuary of art, where sound and architectural space merged in a magical dance. Witnessing 28,000 hearts beat in sync with the resonating notes, one could deeply feel the divine harmony, elevating the experience to new heights, where art and space converse in the language of beauty, emotion, and the pride of Vietnamese culture.
“Chi Dep Concert” stage – Unsung symphony of shapes and lighting
The Global City on the night of April 12th lit up like a giant installation artwork, with the “Chi Dep Concert” stage at its center. Featuring a state-of-the-art LED screen system, a large number of screens, combined with an impressive lift stage model and rotating bridge, the architecture of the music night itself became a silent symphony of shapes and lights.
As the first melodies rose, that space not only filled the invisible void but also interacted in a magical way with the tangible structure. The giant LED screens became walls telling stories through light, the rotating bridge swirled like a graceful dancer, and the brilliant, ethereal light clusters, shaped by Tran Vuong and Long Kenji, transformed into visible notes of music, amplifying and embellishing the inherent beauty of the sound.
Dance of lighting and sound – Multi-sensensory symphony at “Chi Dep Concert”
Under the skilled hands of Chief Director Blonde Nguyen and Music Director Hua Kim Tuyen, the “Chi Dep Concert” created a mesmerizing dance of light and sound. The lights did not merely illuminate the 48 “sister”, but painted emotional visual illusions, guiding the emotional flow of 28,000 spectators through the rises and falls of over 50 songs. Brilliant beams of light cascaded like waterfalls across the stage, and mystical streaks of color, resembling a galaxy, embraced the space, while the continuous transformation of intensity and angles of projection formed a captivating light ballet.
Accompanying the music brought to life by S-HUBE, the use of dynamic and static shapes on stage – from the elevating structures to the impressive rotating bridge – created depth and richness for the performance space, enhancing the emotional impact of every artistic moment. The seamless interplay between light, form, and sound created a multi-layered artistic experience, leaving a lasting imprint on the minds of every attendee.
Storyteller of national culture – “Chi Dep Concert” stage echoing the Vietnamese identity
The harmony between music and space at the “Chi Dep Concert” holds a deeper meaning, which is the celebration of Vietnamese culture. The program dedicated the entire third section to honoring the culture of the three regions – North, Central, and South – through folk songs such as “Co doi thuong ngan” (The Highlander Girl), “Cau duyen” (Love Bridge), “Inh la oi” (Inh La Oi), “Ly keo chai” (The Fisherman’s Song), “Gian ma thuong” (Angry But Loving), and the wedding scene from the Mekong Delta. The stage space was not just a place for music to echo but also became a vivid painting of culture, taking the audience to different lands and unique customs. This miraculous interaction created profound layers of meaning, enriching the audience’s artistic journey and evoking pride in national identity.
“Chi Dep Concert” stage – An aisle honoring legacy and identity
The choice of The Global City as the venue for the “Chi Dep Concert” created a magnificent performance space, but what was even more special was how Director Blonde Nguyen, Music Director Hua Kim Tuyen, and Fashion Director Travis Nguyen transformed the stage into a sanctuary that honors Vietnamese heritage and identity. The costumes for the third act were meticulously designed to represent the cultural identity of the 54 ethnic groups, from the intricate patterns of the Northwest’s brocade to the traditional ao dai. Each was cleverly modernized, blurring the lines between stage performance and the catwalk. Every outfit was not only beautiful but also conveyed a cultural message, embodying the spirit of each segment and turning the concert stage into a fashion festival rich in ethnic flavor, where each design spoke its own language of Vietnamese identity.
The delicate fusion of sound, light, shapes, and especially cultural spirit at the “Chi Dep Concert” was not just a random arrangement but the result of a passionate and dedicated creative process by a talented team. When music and space united to speak in one voice, a unique, profound, and nationalistic experience was created, touching the deepest emotional chords in the hearts of 28,000 spectators. It is a testament to the miraculous power of art when it transcends all limits, creating unique cultural spaces where sound, imagery, and Vietnamese identity come together to soar, painting endless artistic dreams on the “Chi Dep Concert” stage.
