All About the New Animated Movie ‘Predator: Killer of Killers’ — and How It Fits Into the Sci-Fi Franchise

The animated project was unveiled with an action-packed trailer showing the alien hunters in bloody battles

Prepare for plenty of Predator this year.

The next live-action Predator movie, Predator: Badlands, blasts into theaters on November 7, but like a Yautja deactivating its invisibility cloak, another surprise Predator movie has been unveiled.

In an October 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell teased that two Predator movies would be released in 2025. In addition to the previously announced Predator: Badlands, the new animated movie Predator: Killer of Killers was revealed on April 8 with an action-packed trailer.

Dan Trachtenberg (who directed the 2022 Predator prequel, Prey) and Josh Wassung helm the new animated feature.

“After Prey became a success, Dan [Trachtenberg] came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2,” Asbell told THR last year. “And we’re like, ‘What do you want to do?’ And he rattled off a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool. We’ve actually done two of them.”

So what is the animated Predator movie about, and when does it premiere? Here’s everything to know about Predator: Killer of Killers.

What is Predator: Killer of Killers about?

Predator: Killer of Killers is an animated anthology movie consisting of three stories depicting alien hunters battling across different periods in history.

According to the official plot description it “follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge; a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession; and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause.”

Little do these fighters know they are about to confront some of the fiercest and most cunning hunters in the galaxy.

Like Prey (which was set in the 1700s), Predator: Killer of Killers also transports the alien hunters back in time, taking place before the first Predator movie, originally released in 1987.

Predator: Killer of Killers is co-directed by Dan Trachtenberg and Josh Wassung. The film was written by Micho Robert Rutare, with a story by Trachtenberg and Rutare.

When will Predator: Killer of Killers be released?

Predator: Killer of Killers premieres June 6, 2025, on Hulu. The animated movie is the second Predator movie to debut on the streamer after 2022’s Prey.

Prey saw the alien hunter face off against Naru (Amber Midthunder), a young Comanche woman in the 1700s living on the Northern Great Plains. The prequel was a breakout hit for Hulu, becoming the streaming platform’s biggest premiere to date.

Predator: Killer of Killers is just the first new entry in the Aliens-Predator universe this year. After each starring in their own sci-fi franchises, the extraterrestrial enemies fought each other in 2004’s Alien vs. Predator and 2007’s Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.

The limited series Alien: Earth will also premiere on Hulu this summer, and the next Predator movie, Predator: Badlands, hits theaters on November 7.

Who is in the cast of Predator: Killer of Killers?

The voice cast includes Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez and Michael Biehn.

Ozawa was previously in 2010’s Predators, and Biehn is familiar to sci-fi fans as he played Kyle Reese in The Terminator and Hicks in Aliens.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez has starred in notable projects, including War of the Worlds and Arrow.

Yes, a trailer for Predator: Killer of Killers premiered on April 8. The sneak peek shows the Predator aliens in bloody battles across three historical points: Vikings, feudal Japan and World War II.

“You are old enough now, it is time I tell you about the monster,” a Viking warrior tells her son in the preview. “We must kill it, or it will kill us all.”

According to ComicBook.com, at a press event for Killer of Killers, Trachtenburg explained that the animation project gave him a new avenue of creativity.

“In thinking about the different time periods, I honed in on the idea of, what if we made an animated movie where we could express ourselves in a way that we don’t get to see?” he said. “We’ve now had all these Predator movies, and we’re doing this one that’s crazy different but still with all the stuff.”

Trachtenburg continued, “The other side of the coin that I love in Predator movies is that hard-R, crazy carnage. Wouldn’t it be cool to see that in a different medium? So we made this movie, Killer of Killers, at the exact same time, stupidly, but awesomely.”
