The producer brought his fiancée to her first-ever prom for his 37th birthday celebration
Benny Blanco proves that you’re never too old to celebrate your first prom.
The songwriter, 37, celebrated his birthday March 8 with a prom-themed celebration because his fiancée Selena Gomez, 32, never got her own high school prom experience.
“Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday,” the Eastside songwriter told Jennifer Hudson on the Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, April 7.
Blanco and Hudson took a trip down memory lane rehashing memories from prom, to which the music producer revealed that he didn’t have a car in high school and became somewhat of a seasoned prom professional since he was able to experience the occasion twice.
“One time I went with a friend, like we went in a friend group, and then one time I went with a girlfriend,” Blanco told Hudson.
However, neither experience beat going with the “Calm Down” singer.
“But really, honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner,” told Hudson as the crowd awed endearingly.
It even sounds like Gomez was a little nervous about the occasion.
“She didn’t even know, she was like, ‘What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!’” Blanco said of their conversation leading up to his birthday party. “It was like she was really going to prom.”
The prom of course would not be complete without a corsage — and Blanco did just that for his fiancée.
“I got her a corsage,” the “How Does It Feel to Be Forgotten” songwriter said proudly.
Most recently the couple was spotted at Madison Square Garden, where the New York Knicks faced the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, April 8. The official X account for the Knicks even captured a sweet moment of the engaged couple cuddled up together courtside, captioning it “Couple of love birds.”
The candid picture showed Blanco, 37, affectionately resting his hands on 32-year-old Gomez’s legs as she smiled and placed her hands on her face, showing off her beautiful marquise diamond engagement ring.
The couple got engaged in December 2024 announcing their exciting news via social media on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The Instagram carousel included a closeup of Gomez’s beautiful engagement ring.
“forever begins now…” she captioned the post.
Gomez confirmed she was dating Blanco in December 2023 when she liked and commented on fan account posts of the two on Instagram, and last month they released their first collaborative album to give “fans a unique window into their relationship.”
Per a press release, I Said I Love You First, chronicles Gomez and Blanco’s “entire story — before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”
