Flair filed for divorce from Andrade El Idolo in June 2024
Charlotte Flair is opening up about her divorce.
Flair, 38, whose real name is Ashley Fliehr, spoke candidly about navigating her split from ex-husband Andrade El Idolo in the public eye during an appearance on Sherri, airing Friday, April 4.
“I felt like I was failing at my job, I felt like I was failing in my personal life,” Flair said emotionally, sharing that “the embarrassment of being divorced again” and “being compared” to her father, Ric Flair. who announced he and his fifth wife Wendy Barlow were splitting in September.
The WWE star took a moment to gather herself emotionally during the segment before telling host Sherri Shepherd, “When I made the decision to file for divorce, the only thing that I kept thinking is that I just don’t want anyone to know.”
Flair shared that she had been afraid of feeling “shame” and hearing the public’s opinion on her divorce. “Everyone has an opinion, even though they don’t know the facts,” she told Shepherd.
Now that she’s moving on to her next chapter, Flair said she feels like she’s living her “redemption story” post-divorce. “The WWE audience hasn’t gotten to see the comeback of Charlotte Flair,” she said. “This wasn’t a Charlotte Flair redemption story, but for me, it is a redemption story.”
“I found my worth,” Flair continued. “It’s okay not to be okay, that’s what I learned. It’s okay to take a moment, take a breather, to start over.”
Calling her return to the WWE her “biggest comeback yet,” Flair told viewers, “This is me, this is who I am, I’m standing in my worth and people can have their opinions.”
Flair filed for divorce from her ex-husband, whose real name is Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza, on June 18, 2024, and a judge finalized their divorce on Oct. 10, 2024, PEOPLE confirmed on Feb. 5. TMZ was the first to report the news.
Andrade and Flair started dating in 2019 and were engaged by January 2020. They tied the knot in May 2022 in El Idolo’s hometown, Torreón, Mexico.
Flair was previously married to Riki Johnson from 2010 to 2013, and Thomas Latimer from 2013 to 2015.
