The pop star and actor tells PEOPLE all about his current fashion philosophy, dad uniform and which brother’s closet he wants to raid
Joe Jonas’ only rule when it comes to getting dressed: There are no rules.
Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about his new spring-summer campaign with the Amsterdam-based fashion brand Scotch & Soda, Jonas, 35, describes his style as “comfortable, adventurous and daring.”
“I feel like you have to be able to have fun with what you wear,” Jonas tells PEOPLE, calling in from a park bench in Amsterdam where he is filming a Christmas movie. “It’s a way to show off your personality.”
And as Scotch & Soda’s brand ambassador, he’s able to lean into that fashion philosophy.
“They are pieces anyone could wear,” he says of the latest collection of clothes. “It’s unisex. It’s also something I could wear on stage or I could wear in the park and be able to just relax and be able to just hang out in.”

Playing off of athletic wear while also transforming the pieces into something you could wear on a night out, the Scotch & Soda collaboration is themed around “escaping the city heat” and features items like tailored workwear jackets, rich denim co-ords, graphic rugby polos and more — all of which can be “seamlessly integrating sportswear into everyday attire.”
“Obviously it’s fun to play into some of the athletic wear and also [pieces] you could wear on a night out,” Jonas continues. “But when I put on the clothing, I also wanted to create something that wasn’t too… let’s say, flashy, at times as well.”
“I didn’t want my name all over it, so we wanted to be clever with how we embroidered some of the designs and the collaboration,” he adds.
The collection is centered on a color palette of rich blues and browns with pops of pear green, crimson and butter yellow and also includes straw totes and a variety of bucket, trucker and baseball hats.

Outside of his newest pieces from the Scotch & Soda collection, Jonas has accrued a big wardrobe full of vintage items like jackets and button-down shirts.
“I have quite a few and they take up a lot of space,” Jonas says. “… I think there’s a couple of Carhartt coats and jackets that I’ve found traveling and I’m I think a sucker for bowling shirts and bowling tees that I found.”

“Also, I’d probably say I have these one pair of boots that I’ve at this point realized I need to retire because I think the soles of them are falling off,” he jokes. “And when I’m home, I mean I have a good collection of cozy Birkenstocks that you can’t go wrong with.”
The singer and actor — who is currently in Europe finishing up filming on the Jonas Brothers’ upcoming Christmas movie — isn’t the only fashionable member of his famous family, either. According to Joe, his youngest brothers Frankie, 24, and Nick, 32, have collected quite the wardrobes for themselves.
“This guy [Frankie] has found some great stuff over the years,” Joe says. “Nick keeps everything, so I’ve gone to his wardrobe, but I’ve seen stuff that he’s had since when he was pretty young. But I got to go with… Franklin’s got a good collection. He’s found some good pieces.”

Additionally, Jonas, who is father to daughters Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2, with ex-wife Sophie Turner, has a few parent-friendly style tips that he’s honed since becoming a dad in 2020 — all of which combine utility, style and comfort, much like the Scotch & Soda campaign.
“Usually not sweats, but painter pants typically,” he says, revealing his “dad uniform.”
“If I get anything or any spills on me, then it just looks, like, fashionable.”
Outside of fashion, Jonas and his brothers are gearing up for their inaugural JONASCON event in their home state of New Jersey.
“I mean, it really started with us sitting around thinking of what we could do to celebrate 20 years of this band. And what it comes back to is celebrating the fans and thanking them for the incredible years that we’ve had and the journey that we’ve had,” Jonas says of the forthcoming event, set to take place at the American Dream mall in East Rutherford, N.J. “So a lot of it is us going, ‘Okay, how [do we] best to celebrate the fans, but through their voices and they’re able to share some of their stories with us?'”
“We have a lot of surprises as well and announcements that we’re going to be sharing,” he teases.
For now, though, Jonas says being able to work with Scotch & Soda as an ambassador again was a way for him to get his creative juices flowing amid a very busy time.
“I’ve always been a fan of the brand and when they came to me about collaborating and coming up with some designs of my own…they were like, ‘Yeah, just send us what you’re thinking.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I sent a bunch of different ideas and then like, ‘We like them all.'”
“So I was just so shocked, and to come up with so many different designs and then spread it out over a couple of years has been really special. And so I’m excited for people to hopefully find their favorites and put them in their wardrobe,” he finishes. “And I can’t wait to do it again.”
