From suede skirts to barn jackets, the offerings hit all the season’s best trends
As a fashion editor, I’m always on the hunt for new brands that I can integrate into my wardrobe. I recently spotted photos of Massimo Dutti’s Barcelona runway show online in October and fell in love with the sleek tailored suits, suede jackets, and minimalist dresses. The Spanish brand wasn’t entirely new to me, but I can’t say I knew it well; while it’s been around since the ’90s, it has had a limited presence in the U.S. So when I got the opportunity to try on the clothes in person, I jumped at the chance.
In my test drive, there were a few standout pieces, including a sumptuous brown suede jacket and skirt set and a silky smooth chocolate-brown dress. I found that the range includes plenty of closet staples for casual, off-duty days as well as elegant eveningwear that’s ideal for the holiday party season ahead. I was most impressed by the quality and craftsmanship you get for the price, given that most pieces are under $300.
My verdict: The brand offers an elevated take on wardrobe essentials that feels fresh and modern. Think perfectly collared button-up shirts, crisp trousers, and tailored jackets—all designed with an eye toward what’s trending and relevant now.
The Pleated Suede Skirt and Leather Jacket
Like many fashion editors, I’ve fallen hard and fast for suede this season, and this pleated suede maxi skirt struck me as extra special. (It’s part of Massimo Dutti’s limited-edition collection, so act fast if you want to make it yours.) Given that crimson has been a trending color since Maximillian Davis first debuted his Ferragamo collection, a bright red turtleneck felt like the right high-octane contrast to the dark color palette. In the store, I added a pebbled-leather bomber jacket in oxblood, but this version in black is available online and looks just as good. The oversize shape is on trend, and the leather feels luxe.
The Breezy Miami Button-Up and Relaxed Trousers
This linen-and-silk-blend shirt is part of Massimo Dutti’s Miami collection, which pays tribute to the laid-back vibe of the coastal city. It pairs nicely with a set of matching pants, but I prefer wearing it with trousers for a more upscale feel. Top it off with a suede crossbody bag and kitten-heel boots for a more dressed-up occasion.
The Off-Duty Barn Jacket and Jeans
If there’s one outerwear trend that has dominated this season, it’s the barn jacket. Massimo Dutti’s version adds some extra edge with a leather collar. It felt comfortable on—like the kind of thing you could grab whenever you’re running out the door. I suggest styling it with a classic white tee and jeans for a foolproof weekend look.
The Perfect Duo: A Soft Suede Set
Like I said, I can’t get enough of suede right now, and this sumptuous brown suede jacket-and-skirt set felt like a perfect way to wrap myself in the material. I don’t normally wear sets or even knee-length skirts, but this look felt timeless, office appropriate, and fashion-forward, checking off all the boxes on my list. Style it with a gray sweater and a pair of Oxford loafers to complete the look.
The Elegant Chocolate-Brown Ensemble
Chocolate brown is everywhere, and it’s certainly solidified itself as the color of the season. I can see myself wearing this silky cocoa slipdress for an upcoming holiday party or a fancy date night. I suggest layering a blazer over it in the same shade for a full monochromatic look.
