Craft
It doesn’t take much to be unmistakable. Two things are enough, as Bulgari has been proving for decades. On the one hand, the traditional company has made luminous yellow gold its own, and on the other, the Tubogas technique. The company began experimenting with this back in 1984 to produce the supple bracelet of the very first Serpenti jewelry watch. The gold strips are woven together by artisans without soldering. The new Tubogas collection is characterized by warm orange tones and curved shapes created using this very technique.
Heavy Metal
The Seamaster Diver 300M has been one of Omega’s most popular diving watches for three decades. And it continues to surprise with new appearances. Attentive watch fans spotted the new series on James Bond’s, er, Daniel Craig’s wrist back in the summer. He wore the stainless steel version in black at the Olympic Games in Paris. The new series focuses on different types of metal. Black aluminum, titanium and stainless steel lend the watch a neat monochromatic coolness.
Gem
Nostalgia is always good. That’s why the new collection from Pomellato is called “Memorie d’Archivio” – memories from the archive. It revives two popular series from 1996 and 1997. The “Mora” collection, named after the Italian word for blackberry, pays homage to the abundance of nature – and is reminiscent of the juicy berry in both shape and color. “Mosaico”, on the other hand, is inspired by the timeless art of the mosaic. Each ring is a small mosaic, thanks to a composition of cabochon-cut gemstones.
Galaxy
Everything ends once. Except our universe, which expands endlessly and moves towards nowhere. Don’t worry, we won’t delve any further into astrophysics. The philosophical digression with a possible existential crisis as a consequence was triggered by Graff. Their campaign “Galaxia” is inspired by the endless expanses of the sky. Galactic are not only the diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and co. that adorn the new creations from the house, but also the team that brought the campaign to life: Dutch model Rianne van Rompaey was styled by the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris and staged by Swedish fashion photographer Mikael Jansson. The result? Just as impressive as seeing the Aurora Borealis with your own eyes.
Miniature
Scientific research is needed to find out what it is about miniature things that excites us so much. It’s probably the cuteness effect. Cartier’s mini watches are almost as cute as a baby cat. Some of the classics from the Cartier repertoire are also available in miniature. The “Tank Louis Cartier”, the “Panthère de Cartier” or the “Tortue”, for example. Another advantage of the mini models: they are so small that you have enough space to collect them all.
