Ten private universities in Hanoi have announced tuition fees for the upcoming academic year, with the highest at VND335 million (US$14,000) per year.
RMIT University and British University Vietnam (BUV), both operating with foreign programs, are the two schools with notably high tuition fees.
RMIT charges the highest fee, at VND335 million per year for 2024-2025, an increase of about 5% from last year. BUV has maintained its tuition fees, charging from VND154 million to over VND252 million, depending on the program.
Some schools charge close to VND100 million per year, such as the medical program at Dai Nam University and dentistry at Phenikaa University, both at VND96 million.
FPT University Hanoi charges VND86.1 million per year for all majors.
VinUni has not yet announced this year’s tuition fees, but last year it charged over VND530 million per year, among the highest in the country.

Generally, the most common tuition fee range at private universities in Hanoi is VND20-50 million per year, an increase of 10-20% from the previous academic year.
So far, many public universities have announced their tuition fees ranging from VND26 million to over VND60 million.
Vietnam currently has 240 higher education institutions, including over 60 private ones. Private universities mainly select students through academic records and high school graduation exam scores. Some schools also consider the results of capability assessment exams.
VinUni has a selection process similar to American universities, considering academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and interviews, while RMIT and BUV require students to meet certain English proficiency levels.
