What to Watch This Weekend (March 8-9): 10 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream Now (Including a Mind-Bending Charles Manson Documentary)

Here’s where to watch the top 10 best movies and shows the weekend of March 8-9

The weekend is finally here, and with it, a slew of new shows and movies to binge.

This weekend, March 8-9, features a more uplifting slate of titles, including a lifestyle series brought to you by the one and only Duchess of Sussex herself, Meghan Markle.

Additionally, a number of fan favorites are wrapping up their seasons this week, including two reality TV mainstays. But fret not, when one show ends, another takes its place — such is life in a world of never-ending content — and a number of new titles are coming to your screen too.

Netflix is diving into yet another true crime docuseries — and this one promises to be grizzlier than ever (hint: yes, it is about a cult).

And there’s more! Here’s a list of the 10 best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.

With Love, Meghan

Ever wanted to cook with a royal? Well, now you (sort of) can: Meghan Markle is bringing her talents in the kitchen — and beyond — to your home. The Duchess of Sussex gives fans a glimpse into her life in Montecito, cooking for her family and organizing parties, in her new lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan.

“It feels as though we’re just spending time together, which is what it ended up being,” Meghan told PEOPLE of the crew’s presence on the series. “I’d make a recipe and say, ‘Everyone try this,’ and there are certain dishes where you just watch everyone flock in.”

She continued, “I’d say, ‘We’ve run out of spoons!’ It ended up feeling so communal, and that’s the spirit of the show.”

Watch all eight episodes of With Love, Meghan on Netflix.

Chaos: The Manson Murders

While in previous weeks, we’ve included a plethora of true crime, this time we’re honing in on just one — but it’s a doozy. Netflix released their latest documentary, Chaos: The Manson Murders, on March 7, which presents a new theory as to how infamous cult leader Charles Manson became so influential.

Based on the 2019 book CHAOS: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties, the movie suggests that Manson had ties to the CIA and MKULTRA, the mysterious agency study of LSD and mind control.

Watch Chaos: The Manson Murders on Netflix.

The Traitors season 3 finale

Sticking to the theme of murder, up next we have a show that’s known just as much for its dramatic betrayals as its hilarious quips: The Traitors. Alas, host Alan Cumming has made his final bow (and worn his final tartan kilt) in the shocking finale which was released on Peacock on March 6.

After a tumultuous season that saw the traitors coming for each other rather than fooling the faithful as they set out to do, season 3 of the beloved reality game show has come to an end. If you haven’t watched, you might want to catch up quickly — the internet is not shy about sharing its two cents and spoiling it all! Hurry, ye faithful!

Watch the season 3 finale (and drama-filled reunion!) of The Traitors on Peacock.

Mickey 17

Did Parasite leave you haunted and overthinking about the injustices of life for far too long? Sucks, but no worries because Bong Joon Ho’s newest movie, Mickey 17, will have you walking away full of hope for the future (and maybe thinking about the state of political affairs just a little, too — wouldn’t be his movie without it!).

The movie takes place in a dystopian future in which a maniacal political figure, Kenneth Marshall (Mark Ruffalo), a satirical representation of President Donald Trump, takes a group of people to a new planet, where he is hellbent on creating a new, “pure” generation of humans. But he needs an expendable — someone who can be endlessly regenerated after dying thanks to scientific advancement — to test out new viruses and environments: enter Mickey (Robert Pattinson).

Watch Mickey 17 in theaters on March 7.

Love Is Blind season 8 finale

Another popular reality series is closing out its latest season this weekend. Netflix’s Love Is Blind dropped its finale on March 7 as fans clambered to know: which of the four remaining couples would walk down the aisle?

Want more? Don’t worry — the producers wouldn’t let you shut your laptop without a reunion!

Watch the Love Is Blind season 8 finale now and the reunion on Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. EST on Netflix.

Daredevil: Born Again

Now that Daredevil has entered the MCU, the once-cancelled Netflix series of the same name is getting the reboot treatment (and a move to Disney+!).

Starring the majority of the same cast, including Charlie Cox as the titular character, the show picks up with the beloved vigilante doing what he does best: fighting crime in courts as a lawyer by day and as a superhero by night.

Cox was doubtful he’d ever get to don the red suit again after the series was booted in 2018. Now, the first two episodes, which premiered on March 4, are being lauded by fans.

Watch Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+.

American Idol season 23

America’s favorite singing show is back, this time with a new (familiar) judge at the helm: Carrie Underwood. The country star — who won the show in 2005 — is returning to her old stomping grounds to replace previous judge Katy Perry.

Joining her are Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, alongside longtime host Ryan Seacrest.

Watch the season 23 premiere of American Idol on ABC on Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. EST, streaming next day on Hulu.

Doctor Odyssey midseason premiere

A high-stakes shark attack, medical drama, thrilling love triangles and a hot new bombshell entering the villa (or a cruise ship, we should say) … and all of this is on a boat. Sound like a Ryan Murphy hit to you? It sure does to us — and that’s exactly what Doctor Odyssey, which returned for its midseason premiere on March 6, delivers.

The Joshua Jackson-led series picks back up with a shocking two-part event centering around a violent shark attack, but the waters are even murkier between his character’s romantically intertwined crew.

Watch the midseason premiere of Doctor Odyssey on Hulu, with episodes coming out weekly on ABC and available next day for streaming.

Picture This

In the spirit of romance, we have a sweet new romcom for you. Featuring the Bridgerton belle herself, Simone Ashley, across from Hero Fiennes Tiffin (who played the younger version of his uncle Ralph Fiennes’ character, Voldemort, in little-known series Harry Potter) as the two fall in love as Pia and Charlie.

With her sister’s wedding looming Pia is feeling the pressure to find the perfect date. She is set up with five potential suitors and promised she’ll find true love in one … but a different man is vying for her heart.

Watch Picture This on Prime Video.

The Way Home season 3 finale

This beloved Hallmark show starring Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh wraps up its third season this weekend in what is sure to be an emotional farewell. But fret not — the show has already been renewed for a fourth season.

The Way Home focuses on three generations of women in the Landry family as they are able to jump through time and live through different periods of their lives.

Watch the season 3 finale of The Way Home on Hallmark on March 7 at 8 p.m. EST and next day on Hallmark+.
