If your Spidey Sense is tingling, that’s because Sony has announced the release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third and final installment in the blockbuster animated Spider-Verse trilogy.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the climactic conclusion to the superhero origin story that began with 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and continued with 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The two animated films were not only box office hits — with a combined gross of $1.08 billion, per Deadline — but also critically acclaimed.

Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Oscars, and its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, was nominated for Best Animated Feature.

In addition to the title and release date, some other details have been announced about the highly anticipated third movie. Here’s everything to know about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

When will Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse be released? 

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will swing into theaters on June 4, 2027. 

The film was originally announced in 2022, and at the 2025 CinemaCon, Sony revealed the release date, which is still more than two years away.

According to Variety, producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson told the CinemaCon crowd: “We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.”

“It’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy,” Lord teased, adding how the movie is meant for “the biggest screens.”

“We are prepping this movie especially for your large format screens,” he continued. “It looks insane.”

Which voice actors are returning for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?

While no official casting announcements have been made, it is likely that stars Shameik Moore (who voiced Miles Morales), Hailee Steinfeld (who voices Gwen Stacy) and Jake Johnson (who voices Peter B. Parker) will reprise their roles.

Previous Spider-Verse films also featured Brian Tyree Henry, Jharrel Jerome, Nicolas Cage, Oscar Isaac, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, John Mulaney, Daniel Kaluuya and Mahershala Ali.

What is the plot of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse concluded with a shocking cliffhanger. After a movie filled with multiverse madness, Miles Morales ended up in a parallel universe where he has not become a superhero, but instead used his powers for evil, transforming into the villain, the Prowler.

Though plot details have yet to be revealed, in a December 2024 interview on the Just for Variety podcast, when asked about the third installment, Henry shared, “There’s not going to be a dry eye in the house.”

Is there a trailer for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?

There is not a trailer for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse yet, but footage was screened for CinemaCon attendees. According to Deadline, in the sneak peek, Miles says, “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go.”

While fans will need to wait until 2027 to see Miles’ journey play out, Spider-Man lovers can still get their Spidey fix come 2026 with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment of Sony’s live-action Spider-Man series starring Tom Holland.
