The actor went on-theme as she was honored at the 2024 Gotham Awards for her performance in Challengers
With award season right around the corner, expect Zendaya’s Method dressing to make a glorious comeback.
Last night, the Emmy-winning actor was one of the many stars in attendance at the 34th annual Gotham Awards, where she was a central figure of the evening, thanks to her many stage appearances and her winning look.
At the ceremony, Zendaya’s sports drama Challengers was nominated for Best Feature, and she was honored with the Spotlight Tribute award for her performance as Tashi Duncan in the film. In addition, she also took the stage at one point to recognize her Dune director, Denis Villeneuve.
When both Dune: Part Two and Challengers arrived in theaters earlier this year, Zendaya captured the world’s attention, thanks to the help of her stylist, Law Roach, who dressed the young star in a series of on-theme looks that have influenced numerous press cycles since.
In honor of those tours, the duo returned to their Method-dressing ways last night. Zendaya arrived in a satin floor-length gown from Louis Vuitton that winked to the tradition of wearing tennis whites.
The creamy halterneck design featured a sleek, body-hugging silhouette, with a skirt that fell straight down Zendaya’s sides. When she turned around on the red carpet, the actor revealed that the dress was not only sleeveless but also backless, save for a single thin strap that extended from the collar to the skirt. Zendaya wore white a lot during the Challengers press tour, and it was exciting to see the striking Wimbledon hue make a comeback in her red-carpet wardrobe.
When she accepted her Spotlight Tribute Award, Zendaya thanked those who have aided her throughout her time in the industry, saying, “Without all of them, none of this is possible. … Thank you to everyone who makes moviemaking possible.” She later added, “It’s so important we keep the moviegoing experience alive.”
